1. What surfaces can Jenolite Directorust be used on?

It can be applied directly to wood, metal, plastic, ceramic, and even rusted surfaces, without the need for a separate primer.


2. What does “3-in-1” mean?

It functions as a primer, undercoat, and topcoat, all in one, saving time and effort by eliminating the need for multiple products.

3. Does it require surface preparation?

Yes. For best results:

Remove loose rust, flaking paint, and dirt

Lightly sand for adhesion

Ensure the surface is clean and dry

4. Can I paint over active rust?

Yes! It’s designed to be applied directly to rust (once loose material is removed) and will seal and protect the surface.

5. What finishes are available?

Jenolite Directorust comes in:

Gloss: Smooth and shiny finish

Satin: Soft sheen, low gloss

Hammered: Textured industrial look

6. What colours are available?

A wide variety, including:

Brights: Canary Yellow, Crimson Red, Turquoise, Cardinal Red

7. Is it suitable for outdoor use?

Absolutely. It provides excellent weather, rust, and corrosion resistance, making it ideal for garden furniture, gates, metal railings, sheds, and outdoor decor.

8. How do I apply it?

Stir well

Apply with brush, roller, or spray

Allow minimum 4 hours between coats

Touch dry in 1 hour, fully cured in 24 hours

9. Can it be used on previously painted surfaces?

Yes. Ensure the existing paint is stable and lightly sanded to aid adhesion.

10. Is it heat-resistant?

While highly durable, it's not suitable for high-heat applications like stoves or engine parts.

1. Apply directly to a cool surface
Remove all traces of oil or grease. Remove old paint and loose rust with steel wool or wire brush. Stir well before use, so that a smooth, uniform mix is obtained. Brush on in smooth strokes. Coat the surface with a maximum of 2 even layers, allowing 20 minutes to dry between layers.

2. Allow to dry
Allow at least 4 hours before use, full cure/hardness is obtained after 12 hours.

3. Storage & Reuse
Store out of direct sunlight, in a cool well-ventilated place. Consult Safety Data Sheet for more information.
