1. What is JENOLITE Exterior Door Spray Paint?
JENOLITE Exterior Door Spray Paint is a premium weather-resistant aerosol paint formulated specifically for outdoor use on doors, windows, and other exterior surfaces. It offers long-lasting protection against UV rays, rust, and corrosion, while delivering a smooth, even, and durable finish.
2. What colours are available?
The Exterior Door Spray Paint is available in a range of classic exterior colours:
- • Black
- • Cobalt Blue
- • Red
Each colour provides excellent coverage and a long-lasting decorative finish.
3. What finish does it provide?
The spray delivers a smooth, hard-wearing gloss finish that enhances the appearance of exterior doors and window frames. The finish is resistant to flaking, fading, and discolouration, even with prolonged outdoor exposure.
4. What surfaces can it be used on?
JENOLITE Exterior Door Spray Paint is suitable for:
- Metal doors and frames
- Hard plastics
- Wooden doors and window trims
- Garage doors and gates
- Outdoor furniture and metalwork
It adheres well to most prepared surfaces and provides excellent long-term protection.
5. Can it be applied directly to rust?
While it can be used on lightly rusted surfaces that have been cleaned and prepped, for the best results we recommend applying it to a primed or rust-treated surface using a JENOLITE rust converter or primer before painting.
6. Is it weatherproof?
Yes. The formula is fully weather-resistant and UV stable, meaning it withstands rain, sun, frost, and temperature changes without peeling or fading. It forms a tough, protective barrier that helps prevent rust and corrosion.
7. Can it be used indoors?
Yes. While designed for exterior use, JENOLITE Exterior Door Spray Paint can also be safely used indoors on metal or wooden surfaces, provided the area is well-ventilated during application and drying.
8. How do I apply JENOLITE Exterior Door Spray Paint?
Step 1 – Surface Preparation
- Clean the surface thoroughly, removing grease, oil, and dirt.
- Remove loose rust and flaking paint with a wire brush or sandpaper.
- Ensure the surface is dry and smooth before application.
Step 2 – Shake Thoroughly
- Shake the aerosol can vigorously for at least 2 minutes before use, and occasionally during use.
- You should hear the agitator ball moving freely inside the can.
Step 3 – Application
- Spray from 15–30cm away in light, even coats, allowing each coat to dry before applying the next.
- For best results, apply 2–3 thin coats rather than one heavy layer.
- For enhanced adhesion and protection, apply over a suitable primer.
Step 4 – Drying Time
- Touch dry: 15–30 minutes.
- Recoat time: 15–20 minutes between coats.
- Fully cured: 24 hours.
Step 5 – Storage & Reuse
- After use, invert the can and spray for a few seconds to clear the nozzle.
- Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight or heat sources.
9. How many coats should I apply?
Typically, 2–3 thin coats will achieve an even, durable finish. Heavily weathered or porous surfaces may require an additional coat for full coverage and protection.
10. Does it require a primer?
While the paint can adhere to most prepared surfaces, for bare metal or untreated wood a primer is recommended to maximise adhesion and rust resistance.
11. How much area does one can cover?
A single 400ml can typically covers approximately 1–2 square metres, depending on surface type, colour, and thickness of coats applied.
12. Can it be used on garage doors or window frames?
Yes. It’s perfect for garage doors, window frames, sheds, gates, and outdoor trim, providing a long-lasting decorative finish that resists weathering and corrosion.
13. Is the finish resistant to peeling or flaking?
Yes. Once fully cured, the paint forms a tough, flexible coating that resists peeling, cracking, and discolouration, even under harsh outdoor conditions.
14. Can I use it on plastic doors or uPVC?
Yes, JENOLITE Exterior Door Spray Paint adheres to most hard plastics and uPVC, provided the surface is clean, dry, and lightly abraded for better grip.
15. How do I clean up after use?
After spraying, invert the can and press the nozzle for a couple of seconds to clear the valve. This prevents clogging and ensures the can is ready for future use. Any overspray can be removed with a suitable solvent before it dries.
16. How should I store the can?
Store upright in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated space below 50°C, away from heat sources, flames, or direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
17. Is JENOLITE Exterior Door Spray Paint made in Britain?
Yes. All JENOLITE aerosol paints are proudly made in Great Britain, ensuring top quality, consistency, and performance trusted by professionals and DIYers alike.
